Why Choose the Copywriter Guy?
Later I'll tell you how I helped prevent a company from losing a £300,000 contract but for now, here's how you could be one 'click' away from getting copy that sells.
I have been writing in various styles and formats for the whole of my school, university and professional life. My clients have included businesses of all sizes, each with different needs. The Copywriter Guy will help you if you need to get a point across, be that in a brochure, a website or perhaps just a strap line.
Following are examples of some of the work I have produced which has been published worldwide:
- Copy strategy and content
- Product and service profiles – amongst my clients is one of the world's largest manufacturers of packaging
- Brochures for hearing aids
- Product and company naming
- Websites – small local concerns and companies
- Strap Lines, fliers and posters
I also offer a proof reading service and can suggest changes where appropriate. I work predominately in English and also translate from French and German.
This will only take a moment of your time!
I know you're probably very busy and I'm not going to waste your time so here are just two examples of work I've done recently. And it won't take a minute to read them!
1) "Sound Advice"
This was the title of a comprehensive manual I wrote for people who suffer from hearing loss. It communicated the loneliness of sufferers, the worry of their loved ones, and helped them all understand how new technology could drastically improve their lives. It made them feel that their problems and concerns were understood. How? I wrote them a letter – a long one - which spoke directly to them, just as I'm speaking to you now.
The process involved was one of close contact with the client, ensuring that all bases were covered in a way that fitted neatly in with the design of the manual.
This led onto...1b) 'Top Marks for Sparks'
A brochure aimed at dispensers, which therefore involved a completely different approach. The manufacturers had done their homework: they knew that their product was the best in class but they were in danger of treating their customers like scientists. Ultimately, simple worked best!
2) Product Profiles and Articles
Now, these work to a very precise spec'. I have a maximum number of words (not that many!) to show new ways in which my client, one of the world's leading manufacturers of packaging, provides for it's customers. They are about getting the message across briefly and accurately. The articles and profiles are then included in the quarterly in-house magazine which is published all over the world.
One Company that literally couldn't afford not to hire me!
Amongst the work I have done most recently was the proof reading and better phrasing of a quotation for a computer centre – a £300,000 contract. The company supplying the quote hadn't received enough information in the tender document. They had done huge amounts of work to secure the contract and to provide the best technology; things had been left out of the tender document which would have led to problems later on.
BUT! The quote was written by the engineer responsible for putting the package together. He had spent long hours working on it and had found the requirements vague and frustrating. Whilst his technical know-how was second to none, he felt he should air his grievances in the quotation document itself i.e. before the business was won.
So I took over. 'You did not provide us with enough information to quote properly' (and other such comments) became 'We at XYZ understand the nature of projects such as these and how your needs may change and develop. We offer the commitment and flexibility to support you at every step of this venture etc...'
The finished article came in 24 hours early and under budget. What could have resulted in, "These people have no idea how hard I've been working to get this off the ground. This quote's going in the bin." became, "not only does this company know how difficult my job has been but they've also prevented me from making what could have been a costly mistake. My choice is clear."
On the 17th July 2007 the company in question was awarded the contract!!
